Isn’t it a bill of goods we are sold, that each relationship has to be THE ONE that lasts forever — or at least through college, our 30s and maybe until our kids go to college themselves?
What if we redefined success as ‘really good while it lasts’ instead of the proverbial ‘until death do us part’?
Covid Times not withstanding, I’d feel 150% better about all of my relationships, and would also stand taller around my siblings, 2 out if 4 of us, who are still slogging along, picking, bickering, and proving to ‘the world’ that they have picked and stayed with their life match.
