This describes the impostor syndrome. Learning about it in my masters program, I observed how the smart ones took it in and became a little more confident to share what they know. The less smart, snatched it up for their arsenal of defensive routines, using the impostor effect against the knowledgable, to boost their own self-sealing importance.
