You bet! For the most part, school killed my curiosity, my self efficacy, and my desire to pursue a subject in depth, because it always insisted on prerequisites before the good stuff. Utterly detached, devoid of the original application of the subject that inspired me in the first place.

Luckily, a few great teachers, a few college-level integrative experiences rescued me from the institution of schooling, mostly structured around tests, bells, and regulations which only certain people were allowed to break.

This next era, thanks to the pandemic that started with Covid-19, will be the golden era for what internships have taught us — apprenticeships work.

Find a mentor who is curious and crafty in the way you are. Find someone who has dealt with the S.O.B.s in the world more than you have, and find a reason to work with them for a year or more.
